It's official! After a 6-year hiatus, resurrecting my first NaNoWriMo Novel, and nearly writing my hands off all year, I'm committing to NaNoWriMo 2015...which means writing a NEW novel (50,000 words) in 30 Days during the month of November!

Writing Accomplishments So Far
You may recall the struggle I discussed in my first attempt at NaNoWriMo (acronym for National Novel Writing Month). Long story short, it was back in 2009. I won NaNoWriMo for that year, but it took until June 24th of this year to finally write the words "The End." As I write this blog post, that novel is currently in its editing stages.
One of my main goals for this year was to write my heart out and prove to myself that I could indeed become an actual author of fiction. In the process since beginning this journey in January of this year, I've already accomplished so much...
Why this INSANE Commitment to Participate in NaNoWriMo 2015?
So why—you may be wondering—in the middle of all the production I've already done, and that which I'm still currently working on in the form of two full-length books, am I committing to this insane task of writing another novel-length project for NaNoWriMo 2015?
I'm glad you (might've) asked. Here's the rub.
Joining the hundreds of thousands of other "Wrimos" in this effort is good in and of itself, but for me it's personal. I've learned a lot since my first NaNoWriMo event; namely, that if I try hard enough and, above all, stay focused I actually am capable of writing a novel-length story and seeing it through to completion.
In short, the commitment to NaNoWriMo 2015 is my act of faith that I can tackle the thing that conquered me the first time and WIN!
Pumped on the Way to NaNoWriMo 2015
It's a good thing I've been getting myself pumped up with the story I wrote about my experiences all those years ago during my first NaNoWriMo:
In addition to encouraging myself with my own materials and accomplishments, the NaNoWriMo website has tons of great Pep Talks, NaNo Prep ideas, Forum topics, and even something called the "Adoption Society" where you can feel free to grab some ideas that other people have posted but have no use for in their own novels and stories!
One of the best resources I've recently found is a blog post entitled "100+ NaNoWriMo Preparation Tools." This post is packed with loads of great tips and tricks for writing your way through NaNoWriMo 2015.

What the New Novel is About
The working title is Kitty Hero Chronicles. Here's the story's premise:
A story about a Russian Blue cat named Java (so named after our own cat) who discovers she has super powers and must use them to save her town from an evil lab rat.
Seems a bit far from my normal venture into fiction, I know, but trust me, I've got a lot of ideas for this little project.

Progress Updates for NaNoWriMo 2015
Just so you know, since I'll be undertaking this HUGE project there will likely not be many blog posts here for the month of November.
Instead, I plan on adding any updates/details to the story I mentioned earlier: "How to WIN at NaNoWriMo" in the "It's Official: NaNoWriMo 2015 Participant!" section, so be sure to check there often to see how things are going for me in NaNoWriMo 2015!
Thanks for reading. Here's to coming out on top—and 50,000 words richer than before—at the end of NaNoWriMo 2015!
