"What Is In Thine Hand?"
Recently, Putnam County, TN (my home town) and surrounding areas were struck with devastating storms and tornadoes. This post details my attempt to give back to the community in hopes of helping the victims of these storms.
Many times in life we find ourselves wondering what we, with our meager resources, could do in certain situations that would be helpful or worthwhile for others. In these circumstances, it's easy to wonder if we're gifted and talented at all.
I'm reminded of Biblical characters like Moses (Exodus 4:2), the Zarephathian widow (1 Kings 17:11–13), and a woman of the "wives of the sons of the prophets" (2 Kings 4:2–7). When they thought their lack couldn't make a difference, they were told to use what was already in their hand.
In other words, use the resources and gifts and talents you have instead of focusing on what you lack.
After the tornado damage and loss in my hometown of Putnam County, TN, on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, I thought I couldn't make much of a difference, but then I realized I have certain things "in my hand" that could help.
Use What's In Your Hand
Considering my own gifts and talents, I was inspired to look for ways I could contribute. I decided on starting a special fundraiser campaign for the tornado victims in Putnam County.
I spent several hours creating t-shirt designs with several color, style, and size options in support of the cause and have called it the Putnam County Tornado Relief 2020 project.
