A List of Current Projects, Goals, and Aspirations

Hello, Dear Reader,

You've just arrived at my now page. Have a seat. Grab a cup of coffee or your favorite beverage. Make yourself comfortable while I share with you my current projects, goals, and aspirations.

So what is a now page? It's something I recently stumbled upon and decided I should implement myself. Rather than constantly updating smaller tasks on my main blog, I reasoned it would be better to create this now page and inform my readers of quarterly updates, thus saving the blog for more relevant content.

For more information on now pages and why you should create one, visit this website. For now (no pun intended), let's get on with the show.

1. Taking Guitar Practice Seriously

One of my main goals for the year 2020 has been to level up my skills on guitar. On the previous edition of my Now Page, I mentioned I was taking lessons with Italian virtuoso guitarist Marco Sfogli. I've found myself going back time and again to our lessons together to mine the many treasures he offered.

But I soon found another amazing guitarist from Sweden named Jon Bjork. Once I saw him on Instagram, I was blown away. I soon found his amazing library of guitar lesson courses and found one I thought would best suit me: Nailing the Minor Pentatonic.

This course has whipped me into better shape on guitar than I've been in a very long time. I never had so much fun practicing because I finally have what I consider to be the ultimate template for learning the fretboard so far!

Without going into too great detail, suffice it to say that as you work your way through this course, you begin realizing how everything ties together neatly. Some of the exercises you might not understand at first and may even think are wasting your time. But you have to remember one thing, especially with this course—Trust the Process.

If you'll just keep working on the material—and there's plenty of it, a whole 12 weeks worth!—you'll gradually begin understanding how it all ties together.

I'm more confident in my abilities to play the Minor Pentatonic Scale (which is the foundation for many other scales and modes) than I've ever been. I'm only on Week 4, and I've found myself taking each week's worth of material in two-week increments, but I'm patient enough, especially since I'm in no hurry and I'm seeing results!

I've typically been trying to practice in the mornings after my devotional time at around 10:30 a.m. or so. Then, I'm so stoked to play again that I often find myself watching TV with the guitar in my hands working on the materials from the course.

Click here if you want to give Jon's course a try—and I highly recommend you do. I've also left a video sample below from his course. If you'd like to see Jon's entire course library (including a free Mixed Lesson Packcheck it out here.

Jon has a YouTube channel, but I've found him to be most active on Instagram under his guitartechniques account.

Did you know you can hire me to play guitar on or mix your song or album?

2. New Ideas for Future Courses

After participating in several guitar competitions (as a result of my new practice dedication I mentioned earlier), I've noticed an increase in inspiration in my playing. Another thing I've noticed is lots of great ideas for future guitar courses.

I actually began brainstorming and writing material for a new course about a month ago, but it's turned into an entire book's worth of material, so I've decided to make it into a book and a course to complement it!

Not only that, but I've had some ideas for creating an introductory shred guitar course based on my song "Metal Crush." In writing this song, I implemented lots of great shred guitar techniques and recently thought, "Why not put it in the form of a short course?"

Stay tuned to my Official Courses Page so you'll see when new courses are added.

3. Instagram: My New Hobby

Last, but not least, I've been having lots of fun over on my Instagram profile. Recently, I had the idea to test some gear by actually playing rather than talking (which is a common complaint among my YouTube fans; I like to talk too much!).

The latest gear I've been having fun with is Swiss Picks, a genius idea in my opinion. As you can see from the above image, I may have been having a little too much fun with these picks, claiming to have received on as a prize in a bag of walnuts!

I find it much easier to post short video clips and updates to my Instagram than it takes to produce lengthier vids to my YouTube channel, which I only post to once a week on average.

If you'd like to see some cool new licks from me on a more regular basis, head on over to my Instagram by clicking the button below. And don't forget to Follow me!

Well, that's it for now. If you have any questions for me regarding the above updates, please contact me and I'll be sure to respond as soon as possible.

And please be sure to visit my official blog, where I write insightful content on Embracing the Creative Self in all of us.
